Eguisheim 2026 (Alsace)

In October 2026 we spent a few days travelling in Alsace. First stop: Eguisheim, a small wine village a few kilometres south of Colmar. The lanes wind in rings around the castle in the centre of the village – behind every bend there is another half-timbered house with colourful shutters and lavish flower displays.

On the castle square stand the Saint-Léon chapel and the fountain with the statue of Pope Leo IX, who was born here. I was also delighted by the small details – right down to the teddy bears climbing up a house facade.
